How to Care for Enameled Cast Iron

Food residue can be removed with non-abrasive pads, or by filling the pan with water and bringing it to a simmer to loosen encrusted food.After the pan cools, hand wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly to avoid rusting. Citrus-based cleansers are not recommended, as they can dull the exterior gloss. When storing, avoid stacking or nesting casserole pans to keep the porcelain surface intact.

Note: this cookware is not dishwasher safe.

How to Cook with Enameled Cast Iron

Cast iron cookware rarely requires high heat to cook food. Use low to medium heat to keep food from burning or sticking to the pan. Oil or cooking spray are also recommended.Never heat an empty pan in the oven or on the stovetop. Always add water or oil before heating the pan.

Use nylon, silicone or wooden utensils to keep the porcelain surface intact. Avoid metal utensils, which can damage the enamel finish.Always use oven mitts, potholders or silicone grips when handling hot cookware.
