Why does the traditional cast iron wok I received have cracks and uneven surfaces?

This is created using traditional hand-crafted clay mold techniques, not cracks. When the 1600°C molten iron is poured onto the clay mold, the natural texture formed by the thermal expansion and contraction of the clay mold is called “tortoise pattern”. It can tightly absorb oil and, with more cooking, naturally forms a non-stick oil film. Handcrafted products may have uneven surfaces on the bottom, which is a normal phenomenon.
